Children’s Poem: “Dug Up!”

When I’m gardening I often dig up poor earthworms – a sign of good, healthy soil.  I’m never quite sure who gets the bigger surprise though.

I always feel so sorry for the critters who are literally flung from one environment into a totally different and alien one.  I usually keep a eye out to make sure they get safely back down into their burrows – hopefully none the worse for wear after their unplanned adventure.
