When creative pursuits collide…

Louise K Tucker
Do you sometimes find when working on something creative, it reignites an interest in other creative pursuits?

I was recently working on a manuscript for a reader and because I had some extra free time during my way too infrequent holidays, I felt driven to get my paintbrushes out once again.  I love watercolour painting but find that my biggest obstacles are TIME and SPACE.  Yes, TIME is definitely an old adversary for authors, but SPACE can’t be blamed. You can write just about anywhere!

However, hauling out paintbrushes, stretching paper and squeezing paint from ancient tubes of cerulean blue can be daunting. Not to mention my crowded workspaces and the nagging feeling of guilt that I really should be cleaning the house! But, when I am able to switch into creative mode, there’s nothing I enjoy more.
Allowing myself the freedom to be inspired by thoughts and ideas whilst writing the manuscript for the reader seemed to naturally spill over into my artistic nature which occasionally just has to have free rein.

The outcome of my endeavours is the little fishy to the left.  I hope you like him.

The glorious flowers of Spring in such an abundant display, inspired me to write this poem. Bright yellow blooms interspersed with orange and bright patches of cerise pink and fresh white, seemed to lift my soul. I couldn’t help feeling happy! This display of spring daisies happens on an annual basis on the west coast…
